Musubi. (moose-a-bee. Noun). A sticky triangle of rice filled with either a plum pickle, cooked salmon, or any other favorite stuffing, then wrapped with dark green seaweed. Musubis for breakfast,
lunch and dinner too.
My mom can't cook in Kyoto,
so what's a boy to do?

hi e, m, and s! great blog. i wish i could explicate for you the difference between onigiri and omusubi. i used to think that there was some dividing line, not unlike an imaginary japanese gastronomical mason-dixon line, but it seems that there are several theories floating around that have to do with region, shape, history, and gender. go figure. but certainly food and how it is flavored differs between kyoto and tokyo so we'll have food adventures when you come visit. can't wait. ym
